Crown of Boasting
"For what is our hope or joy or crown of boasting before our Lord Jesus at His coming? Is it not you? For you are our glory and joy. - 1 Thessalonians 2:19
I love the above statement that Paul makes about the church in Thessalonica. These people are the ones he had labored over like a father with his own children...encouraging, exhorting and pouring his life into them in hopes that they live lives worthy of the calling they had received from God.
Here is my question for you... Who are you pouring into? Who are you discipling? Who are you mentoring and encouraging to finish the race well? If the answer is "nobody" then what "crown of boasting" will you have to present to Jesus on the day of His return?
I love what the great leader Howard Hendricks said:
"Every man should have three mentoring relationships in his life... 1) A Paul, who is an older man that can build into his life. 2) A Barnabas, who is a soul brother to whom he can be accountable. 3) A Timothy, who is a younger man into whose life he is building."
Will you join us in the Great Commission that Christ gave us? Will you, "go and make disciples?"
